The Handoff App: Privacy & Data Security Policy

1. COPPA Compliance & Minor Data

Handoff is strictly for use by adults aged 18 and older. Children are expressly prohibited from logging into the app. All data concerning minors (names, schedules, medical needs) is exclusively generated and controlled by adult users with legal authority to do so. Access is strictly limited to the linked co-parent and authorized professionals.

2. Medical Snapshot & Vitals Data

While Handoff allows parents to input logistical health data, we are not a covered entity under HIPAA. However, we treat all "Medical Snapshot" data with enterprise-grade security. This data is encrypted, and Handoff will never sell, rent, or lease minor data or user data to third-party data brokers or advertisers.

3. Immutable Chain of Custody & Data Deletion

To maintain our core philosophy ("Parallel Parenting without gaslighting"), specific actions generate immutable timestamps. Users have the right to request account deletion; however, Handoff reserves the right to retain timestamped log data if mandated by an active court order or legal hold to preserve the evidentiary chain of custody.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

Handoff utilizes trusted third-party infrastructure partners (e.g., secure database hosting, payment processors) to operate the service. Data is shared strictly for operational functionality.

5. Automatic Data Collection

To ensure system integrity and security, Handoff automatically logs metadata, including IP addresses, device identifiers, browser types, and login timestamps.

6. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of an unauthorized data breach compromising user or minor information, Handoff will notify affected users electronically within the timeframe mandated by applicable law.
